SANTA BARBARA – The SBCC beach volleyball team continued to dominate this past Friday at East Beach, dropping just one set all day in a pair of 5-0 sweeps over Moorpark and Santa Monica.

"Today we had two great team wins overall," said head coach Ariana Garner. "We had to make a few adjustments to our lineup and had girls playing with different partners. It was awesome to see the girls adapt so quickly to the new partnerships and find ways to win in new and uncomfortable situations."

The Vaqueros improved to 11-1 on the season and 8-0 in WSC play.

Ariana Garner –
"Bella Johnson and Kelissa Lemoine played at the 1's team together. It was a new partnership and Bella's first time playing at the ones. I was proud of the way Kelissa encouraged Bella and helped her gain confidence throughout the day. Their constant communication and support for one another made them successful. They finished the day with two wins against two tough teams.

"Another new pair was Cori Tommeraason and Jacelin McKie at the 2s spot. Together they played lights out defense and were able to score a lot of points with their serve. As two smaller players, they were able to play read and react defense and did not let many balls touch the ground and were digging some great hard driven balls.

"Coming off a very tough loss against a solid Ventura last week in a tight 3-set match, Jordyn Anderson and Piper played together at the 4s. The pair has really grown together and continue to improve their beach volleyball skills every day. Jordyn is a very loud and communicative player who has done a great job of taking Piper under her wing as this is Pipers first time on the beach."
