
The MSJC volleyball team won an exciting back and forth match on Wednesday night as they outlasted College of the Desert in five sets to stay unbeaten in conference play.
The Eagles seemed to take control of the match from the start as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead on their way to a 25-19 first set win. Desert evened the match in the second with a 25-19 win of their own and then took the lead in the contest with another 25-19 win in the third. The Eagles responded with their backs against the wall and dominated the fourth set 25-13 to send the match to a fifth and deciding set. In the fifth the two teams battled to a 7-7 tie, before Audrey Franks knocked down three kills and Amari Ramirez had an ace to give MSJC an 12-8 advantage. The Eagles rode that momentum to a 15-9 match clinching victory.
Franks ended her impressive night with a team high 21 kills and Ramirez added 12 kills, 32 assists, and 15 digs. Josephine Springer added 15 kills and 12 digs while Kalia Anady dished out 19 assists and picked up a team high 18 digs.
The Eagles are now 7-0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference matches and improved to 13-8 overall. MSJC will travel to San Bernardino Valley on Friday for a 5 pm match. SBVC enters Friday's match with an IEAC record of 7-1.
