Baseball Drops 6-5 Decision to San Bernardino Valley

Compton, Calif. - Freshman Danny Hernandez hurled four innings of scoreless relief, but the Compton baseball team dropped a 6-5 decision to San Bernardino Valley on Tuesday evening.

Hernandez added two strikeouts to his outing, allowing no hits. He entered the game and held an insurance run on the bases after starting pitcher freshman Jose Montalvo faced two in the top of the sixth.

Freshman Mike Hernandez led the Tartar offense with a 3-for-4 outing with two RBI and a run. Sophomore Alexandro Rodriguez and Billy Sanchez earned the team's other two RBI.

Montalvo (0-2) was charged with the loss after throwing five innings and allowing five earned runs.

The Tartars (2-8) remain home and host Imperial Valley next for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22.
