PORTERVILLE - The hot streak continued for the Marauder baseball team as it got off to its best start since 2007 after an easy 8-2 victory over Porterville, Tuesday afternoon.
During the 2007 season, the Marauders began the season with a 10-0 record. In 1989, AVC opened the season with a 4-0-1 record.
Eddie Marcotte hit his second home run of the season and finished 2-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored. Ethan Avant continued his hot streak to the season, finishing 2-for-5 with a double. In three games this season Avant has five extra-base hits, including three triples and a home run.
AVC (3-0) jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after it scored five runs of Porterville starter Alfredo Vasquez. The Marauders extended their lead to 8-0 after scoring two more runs in the top of the fourth inning and one more in the the top of the fifth.
This season AVC's bats have been red-hot as the Marauders have scored 30 runs in their first three games. Pitching was the question mark for AVC entering the season, but so far it has been dominant, including starter's Ricky Jimenez' outing on Tuesday against Porterville after pitching 5 1/3 inning, allowing only two hits and striking out five. AVC only gave up a total of six hits.
