Men’s Basketball: Patterson scores 24 points in loss at Mt. San Jacinto

Rio Hondo College sophomore Aaron Patterson score a team-best 24 points in a 94-88 non-conference loss at Mt. San Jacinto College on Friday. The loss moved the Roadrunners to 1-3 overall.

Mt. San Jacinto got off to an early lead and used a 10-0 run midway through the first half to go up 42-35 at halftime. Rio Hondo eventually eclipsed the Eagles and jumped out in front 68-67 after a Miles Oliver layup and free throw after the foul at the 9:07 mark in the second.

But a 14-4 run by Mt. San Jacinto gave the Eagles an 81-72 lead with 5:19 on the clock that they wouldn't give up.

Patterson shot 10-for-17 from the field, including 3-for-3 from three point range on his way to 24 points. He added 5 rebounds and a pair of assists.

Oliver made big contributions off the bench, scoring 15 points while grabbing 6 rebounds. The Roadrunners also got double-digit scoring from Bryant Howing (14 points, 5 assists), and John Mims (13 points, 7 assists).

Rio Hondo returns to action on Wednesday (Nov. 13) when it travels to Golden West College for a 5 p.m. non-conference game.
