A football game is made up of many twists and turns and the Glendale College Football Team experienced its share and more in the Metro League contest on the road Saturday Oct. 22 at Orange Coast College.

Leading 14-0 with a few minutes left in the first half, the Vaqs surrendered two quick scores to OCC to go into the break tied at 14 all. They fell behind 21-14 in the third quarter and fought back to tie the game at 28 all before rallying one final time in the fourth quarter for 10 unanswered points to win 38-28.

Now 2-0 in league play and 4-3 overall, Interim Head Coach Tanner Farwell praised the home squad and his team as well. "Orange Coach is a well-coached football team and its 1-6 record doesn't define the program they are, he said. "We are finally learning that we are a program that teams play up for. We executed when the pressure was on and got the win as a team.'

Offensively, the Vaqs were paced by sophomore quarterback Nick Garcia who passed for 273 yards and three scores on 19 of 35. Artis Cole had two receptions for 86 yards and one touchdown and Caleb Snowden had six grabs for 80 yards. Giorgio Spiropoulos led the rushing attack with 65 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns for GCC which had a balanced attack of 112 yards on the ground and 273 in the air.

Glendale has two home games left on its Metro League schedule, Oct. 29 against Los Angeles Southwest College and Nov. 5 against Citrus College at Sartoris Field. Both games start at 1 pm. They are tied for first place in league play with Citrus with a 2-0 record.
