Women's tennis team battles, but comes up short at Riverside

The Irvine Valley women's tennis team closed out the regular season on Thursday at Riverside.

The short-handed Lasers battled, but lost, 6-3, to the Tigers.

Riverside improved its record to 15-2 overall and 8-2 in conference. It finished second in the OEC standings.

Irvine Valley finished the regular season with a 7-6 record overall and 6-4 mark in conference. The Lasers ended up third in conference.

Irvine Valley still expects to earn a spot in the Southern California Regional Dual Team Playoffs, which begin next Tuesday. Pairings come out over the weekend.

The Lasers picked up one win in doubles and two more in singles.

IVC's No. 1 doubles team of Sabrina Mendy and Ashley Le fought for a 9-7 win over Riverside's top team of Maxell Bernie and Torrey Mateljan.

Mendy and Le also won their singles contests with Mendy beating Mateljan, 6-3, 7-5 and Le defeating Heather Graf, 6-3, 6-4.
