KNIGHTS TAKE THIRD IN SHASTA CROSSOVER

Redding, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team took third place at its own tournament last weekend, beating San Mateo 57-46, losing to Simpson University's JV team 66-51 and beating West Los Angeles 78-67.

Freshman Jenna Wallace scored in double figures in all three games while freshman Riley Wallen grabbed 35 rebounds in the tournament.

Shasta 57, San Mateo 46
The Knights led 27-23 at half but pulled away with a 16-7 fourth-quarter advantage. Four of Shasta's five starters scored in double figures with Megan Collins leading the way with 17 points, five assists and four steals. Kali Cummings scored 16 points, Wallace and Wallen each recorded a double-double. Wallace scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to go with three blocks, and Wallen scored 10 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and had four steals.

Simpson JV 66, Shasta 51
The Knights were outscored 38-22 in the second half to lose in the tournament semifinals. Wallace scored 19 points, Cummings added 15 points, Collins pitched in with eight points, four assists and six steals, and Wallen led the team with nine rebounds.

Shasta 78, West LA 67
The Knights used a 19-10 third quarter advantage to pull away from West LA after being tied at 30 at halftime. Wallace led Shasta with 23 points, Wallen contributed a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards and added eight assists. Collins pitched in with 15 points and three steals, Cummings scored nine points. Gabby Rosales scored eight points off the bench and Kylee White added six.

Shasta is 7-4 overall and plays on the road Thursday against De Anza and Napa Valley on Friday.
