Cypress Women's Water Polo Defeat Golden West, 9-5

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress Chargers women's water polo team (7-6, 2-1 OEC) defeated conference foe Golden West (6-11, 1-2 OEC) with a score of 9-5. The Chargers were led by Sam Worley who finished the game with four goals and two assists. Hannah Fonacier added on three goals herself, while Cheyanne Graham had three assists and four steals.

Cypress started the game strong with an early lead 3-1 at the end of the first period. The momentum continued as Sam Worley scored two impressive goals in the second quarter, leading her team into half time with a three goal lead, 5-2. The Chargers would not let up and went on to score three more goals in the third quarter but it was their defense that made the difference in the game. They managed to hold off multiple attacks from Golden West, while goalkeeper Emma Marsh had a number of beautiful saves to help seal the deal. Marsh finished with 11 saves on the game and the Cypress Chargers won by the score of 9-5.

UP NEXT: The Chargers have a quick turnaround as they continue conference play with a tough matchup against Orange Coast College (12-1, 1-0 OEC) tomorrow, October 14, at 4PM.
