Fresno, Calif. - Freshman Meghan Weinrich scored 21 points with 16 rebounds to lead the Butte women's basketball team to a 69-42 victory over Fresno on Saturday evening in the NorCal Regional Championship to advance to the CCCAA State Championships.
Weinrich added four assists, two steals, and a pair of blocks in her efforts. Freshmen Cassidy King and Sanaya Shrader both chipped in 14 points with King adding five assists and Shrader pulling down a game-high 17 boards.
Fresno took an early 15-10 lead in the first 10 minutes but the Roadrunners stormed back to outscore the Rams 22-8 going into halftime and never looked back. Butte topped Fresno 37-19 in the second half to take a commanding victory.
The Roadrunners (23-6) head to West Hills Lemoore for the CCCAA State Tournament. Butte will face Irvine Valley in the first round on Thursday, Mar. 10 at 1 p.m.
