FULLERTON, CA- Cypress women's tennis (5-3, 1-1 OEC) earned their first OEC victory of the season Tuesday, March 1st. Cypress traveled to Fullerton and defeated the Hornets, 7-2. 

The Chargers battled on Tuesday afternoon winning two of the three doubles matches led by Sydney Tomooka and Michaela Scott. Cypress took their momentum into the singles matchups and pulled out two three-set matches. Jayda Steele won her matchup (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) and Michaela Scott fought back from a one set deficet to win (3-6, 6-2, 6-4). 

Head Coach Matt Harris said, "I am very proud of how our ladies competed mentally. The entire team showed tons of heart and the bench provided great energy and encouragement across the courts. Great team effort, Go Chargers!"

UP NEXT: Cypress will have a week off before they are back on the road Tuesday, March 8th. The Chargers will match up against the Orange Coast Pirates at 2pm.
