(Walnut, CA) Mt. SAC freshman quarterback Ike Udengwu III got his first college start Saturday night (October 30) and made the most of it with 93 yards passing and rushed for 167 yards on 11 carries at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in a National Central Conference win.

The Mounties (4-2, 1-2), with their first conference win, defeated visiting Chaffey College, 38-7.

The defense was the star of the game as it held Chaffey to a -1-yard rushing total, while the offense accounted for 525 yards (125 yds. passing, 400 yds. rushing).

Udengwu threw for two touchdowns and ran for another.

Running backs Reaven Tribune and Nicholas Floyd ran for 87 and 51 yards, respectively, while Jaden Allen led the Mounties with 25 yards receiving with a touchdown.

Sophomore linebacker Tyrin Brooks led with four tackles and a sack for a minus 9-yard loss.

After a missed Chaffey field goal on its first drive, it took only three plays for Mt. SAC to take a 7-0 lead, as Udengwu broke off a 74-yard run for a score to tie the game at 7-7.

Mt. SAC built up a 24-7 lead by the half on a 20-yard field goal by Noah Carlton early in the second quarter and two TD passes by Udengwu.

Allen caught an eight-yard pass and Floyd caught a short four-yard pass from Udengwu late in the half.

After Carlton kicked off to begin the third quarter, a fumble on the first play from scrimmage by Chaffey resulted in a touchdown by the Mounties after sophomore defensive lineman Tupu Alualu recovered it in the end zone for the score.

Mt. SAC led, 31-7.

The Mounties added another touchdown in the fourth quarter, as sophomore running back Kuran Johnson scored his second touchdown of the season with a 6-yard run.

The drive was highlighted by two passes to Trevon Reed to set up the score at the 6-yard line.
