COD (1-4) concluded their non-Conference schedule with a road contest against the University of Saint Katherine Firebirds of San Marcos (1-3), where the Roadrunners "One's" team remained undefeated, but the team fell, 4-1.

The "One's" team of sophomore Katie Geiberger-Teigen (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Evanne Jimenez (Ventura H.S.) would continue to dominate in their first season together, remaining undefeated going into South Coast Conference play by pushing past the Firebirds, 21-19 and 21-14.

The "Two's" team of sophomore Jomarie Viloria (Rancho Mirage H.S.) and freshman Kylie Beckett (Spokane (WA) Central Valley) fell in a narrow loss, 21-15 and 21-15.

The "Three's" team joined two members who had not played on the same pairs team before, freshman Judy Figueroa (Indio Shadow Hills) and freshman April Contreras (Palm Desert H.S.). The first set was a rough one, as they fell, 21-13, but the second set was a great back-and-forth, tying the match at 21-21, but for the Roadrunners, they left it all on the court, falling 23-21.

Both the "Four's" and "Five's" teams fought hard in their matches, but fell, as the "Four's" team of freshman Aaliyah Muhammad (Los Angeles Westchester) and freshman Angela Inprom (Cathedral City H.S.), fell 21-16 and 21-10 and the "Five's" team of freshman Esme Ordaz (Indio H.S.) and freshman Rikki Mottler (Rancho Mirage H.S.), fell 21-11 and 21-16.

The next matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Friday, March 6th at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, where they will open up South Coast Conference play by taking on the El Camino Warriors of Torrance and the Mt. San Antonio Mounties of Walnut.

The next home matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Friday, February 13th beginning at 8 a.m., at the Civic Center Park, where they will host the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville and the Long Beach City Vikings. Hope to see you there.
