Alissa Aranda comes up big in Oxnard's victory over SBCC

The Condors bid for their first WSC victory looked bleak in the first half against SBCC on Wednesday night.  OC trailed by as much as 18 points in the first half, but their resiliance brought them back for a 72-61 victory.

"Our defensive pressure was the key," said head coach Ron McClurkin.  "It looked like (SBCC) legs got tired and the three-pointers they made in the first half, weren't falling in the second."

OC sophomore point guard, Alissa Aranda had 25 points, to lead all scorers.  Aranda also tallied three assists and three rebounds. Robin Prince was outstanding for Oxnard on both ends of the floor.  She scored 17 and grabbed 17 rebounds, to go along with three assists.  Diamond Bishop tallied 15 points and cleaned up eight boards, with teammate Natalie Maldonado and Kristel Lacaba chipping in nine and eight.

The win put OC at 7-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play.  They have a bye on Saturday and return to action on Wednesday night, when they host Moorpark College at 5:00.  Both basketball teams will be holding their annual Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser.  All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
