Vikings fall In CCCAA title game, complete epic 2022 season

Start with a 28-4 overall record, a 12-0 sweep of the Coast-South Conference, a dominant run through the NorCal playoffs, and quarterfinal and semifinal triumphs and a title game berth in the CCCAA State Championship tournament. Add in the Coast-South MVP (Adam Afifi), Defensive Player of the Year (Mahmoud Fofana), the Freshman of the Year (Quinn Denker), three 1st-teamers (Ben Baker, Denker, Fofana) one 2nd-teamer (Sufyan Elkannan) and the Coach of the Year (Danny Yoshikawa) and 2022 will go down as one of the most-accomplished seasons in the rich history of West Valley basketball.

Sunday's 91-66 championship game loss to City College of San Francisco (32-1) will eventually take a back seat to the aformentioned achievements, as the Vikings lived up to their preseason forecast and finished as the 2nd-best team in California. The win by the Rams at West Hills College-Lemoore avenged their only loss of the season, a 73-70 win by the Vikings on Nov. 11 in San Francisco that snapped CCSF's 34-game winning streak and was just their fourth loss in 98 games.

The Vikings earned their spot in the championship game with a 67-63 win over West Los Angeles, the south's top seed. Read the complete semifinal game recap on the CCCAA website:
