QUINCY – Feather River College struck early and often to put West Hills College Coalinga in a 32-0 hole that they couldn't recover from and ultimately, the Falcons lost the non-league game by a final score of 62-20 on Saturday.

Feather River, unbeaten at 5-0, scored the first four touchdowns of the contest to go up 32-0 at the 11:49 mark in the second. But despite falling behind, the Falcons never quit.

Quarterback Jaice Holt tossed a pair of touchdowns, including a 14-yarder to Avian Pesina with 4:19 to go in the second to get the Falcons on the board. He added a five-yard TD to Ashton Goll in the third quarter and ended the contest completing 14 of 28 passes for 105 yards.

Backup Nick Siegel also saw plenty of action, throwing for 93 yards on 6 of 17 passing. Siegel connected with Vondarious Gordon for a big 51-yard touchdown reception at the 1:36 mark in the third.

Dagostino Saintal hauled in 7 receptions for 64 yards and Gordon ran 13 times for 43 yards.

Rusty Finona and Rudy Valdez both totaled 6 solo tackles to lead the Falcons on defense.

"We had some good plays, some good moments in the that game," said head coach Justin Berna. "I thought our quarterbacks played well. They both made some great throws.

"Feather River is just a good team. They don't make mistakes. We knew going into the game that they were going to run the ball. They ran it right at us and controlled the game. They stopped our run and made it difficult for us."

Feather River was ranked No. 15 in the state and won its 17th consecutive game.

West Hills is 1-3 overall as it heads into next Saturday's (Oct. 8) American Golden Coast League opener at Monterey Peninsula College. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

Berna is looking forward to the contest.

"It will be a great test to see where we are at," he said. "I think we both match up pretty well. It should be a great game."
