Citrus College opened American Metro League action Saturday with a 35-10 victory over Orange Coast College.

The Owls improve to 3-3 overall and open conference 1-0. The Pirates drop to 1-4, 0-1.

Citrus finished with 306 passing yards and 139 rushing yards for 445 yards of total offense.

Adam Urena went 16-for-29 with two touchdown passes. Trent Young finished 9-for-10.

Defensively, the Owls held the Pirates to 295 total offense with Luke Pruitt grabbing three tackles for loss and Kendall Henderson nabbing an interception.

Citrus scored 21 unanswered points before OCC could get on the board. Isaiah Espinosa got the ball rolling after snatching a great pass from Urena in the first quarter.

The Owls tacked on two more touchdowns in the second as Kasmir Dina found a seam on the right and ran in for three yards before Trent Young scored a 14-yard touchdown, 21-0.

OCC got on the board in the third with a 30-yard field goal, but the Owls answered back on the next drive. Jacob Ray returned the kickoff 39 yards and Blake Davis made a spin move to avoid a tackle on the next play to put Citrus in Pirate territory. Urena then found his brother Austin Urena wide open in the endzone for a touchdown and Ivan Castro made his fourth point-after-touchdown kick, 28-3.

Young tacked on another touchdown in the fourth, but it was the last score the Pirates would allow. OCC grabbed a touchdown of its own, but Citrus wouldn't allow the visitors to get any more traction, securing the 35-10 victory.

Citrus heads out on the road for two weeks, taking on Santa Ana College next Saturday at 1:00 p.m
