Hawks Take Down Pirates
The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team defeated the Ventura College Pirates on Wednesday by a score of 7-1 to improve their overall record to 7-1 on the year. Stella Turner improved her overall record to 5-0 with the complete game win.
The Hawks saw themselves down 1-0 in the top of second inning after allowing two singles. SCC immediately responded with 3 runs of their own in the bottom half to take the lead and never looked back. Lindsey Marschall singled with one out, followed by a walk to Priscilla Andrade. Riley Piattoni singled to load the bases. Adriana Martinez drove in Marschall with an RBI single to tie up the game. Samantha Villanueva followed with a 2 out double to give the Hawks the 3-1 lead.
In the bottom of the 4th, the Hawks added an additional three runs with singles from Adriana Martinez, Lili Navarro, Jenelle Torrez, and Alyssa Yslas. SCC added their final run in the bottom of the 5th with a leadoff double from Priscilla Andrade who came around to score on a single from Adriana Martinez.
The Hawks return to action on Friday with a double header against Santa Barbara City College. Game times are scheduled for 12:00 and 2:30.
