Comeback kids stun Rustlers in the sand

The Saddleback women's beach volleyball team improved to 3-0 for the first time in program history with a 3-2 win at Golden West College on Friday in Huntington Beach.  The match came down to court four where the Gauchos rallied for a historic win.

Saddleback started the day with a forfeit win on court five and then took a 2-0 lead with a comfortable win on court three.  Golden West rallied to win on courts one and two to tie the match with one match remaining.

Saddleback trailed 1-0 on court five and forced a final game with a win in game two.  Then trailing 14-10 in the final set, the duo of Kayla Castillo and Savannah Huerta dug deep.  Castillo and Huerta fended off four straight match points to tie the game at 14-14.  Following a timeout by Golden West, the twosome then continued the momentum by scoring two more points to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Saddleback is now 3-0 overall and 1-0 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Gauchos will now face Palomar College on Friday after a brief break from the sun.
