The VC women's tennis team recorded its first victory of the season Tuesday with a 7-2 decision on the road at Victor Valley College in Victorville. Keressa Garland (No. 3, singles), Aliyah Amaya (No. 4) and Cali Iadevaia (No. 5) led the charge, all posting 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles play. Tanya Thompson also recorded a win at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
Iadevaia and Denissa Garcia won their No. 2 doubles match, 8-2. The Pirates (1-6, 1-3) also picked up wins by default at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
Ventura travels to Santa Monica on Thursday Feb. 21 for a 2:00 pm Western State Conference match against the Corsairs before returning home Friday Feb. 22 against Saddleback in a non-conference tilt at the VC Tennis Center.
