COD (1-0) began the 2020 season looking clearly at a Valentine's Day victory over the Glendale Vaqueros (0-1), as the Roadrunners 1, 2 and 3 teams all secured wins, taking the match 3-2.

The "One's" team of sophomore Katie Geiberger-Teigen (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Evanne Jimenez (Ventura H.S.) would dominate in their beach debut, vanquishing their Vaqueros opponents, 21-3 and 21-4.

The "Two's" team of sophomore Jomarie Viloria (Rancho Mirage H.S.) and freshman Kylie Beckett (Spokane (WA) Central Valley) had a good back-and-forth in their first set, then got a second wind in the second set and rolled, 21-12 and 21-7.

The "Three's" team of freshman Judy Figueroa (Indio Shadow Hills) and freshman Angela Inprom (Cathedral City H.S.) transitioned their game from the indoor volleyball court to the beach as first team all-IEAC setter Figueroa rallied to win set one, then found their rhythm in sent two, winning 21-12 and 21-8.

Both the "Four's" and "Five's" teams fought hard in their matches, but fell, as the "Four's" team of freshman Esme Ordaz (Indio H.S.) and freshman Rikki Mottler (Rancho Mirage H.S.), fell 21-15 and 21-14 and the "Five's" team of all-IEAC middle blocker, freshman Aaliyah Muhammad (Los Angeles Westchester), and freshman April Contreras (Palm Desert H.S.) would win set one, 22-20, but lost sets two and three narrowly.

The Next home matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Saturday, February 15th beginning at 8 a.m., at the Civic Center Park, where they will take on the Ottawa University Arizona Spirit and the San Diego Mesa Olympians. Hope to see you there.
