Riverside Earns Easy Dub against Cypress

The Riverside City College women's tennis team hit the road for the second time this week and were on the hunt for their fifth-consecutive victory. After sweeping doubles play against the Cypress College Chargers, it was smooth sailing for the Tigers as they earned a 7-2 victory.

It started at the top for the Tigers as sophomore Torrey Mateljan and Semaj Walter teamed up for the first time. They worked a hard earned 8-5 win, while freshman tandem Marvonna Vaxter and Susana Iniguez mirrored the same result as the number three doubles.

Freshman duo Samantha Treat and Jillian Stark had no issues with an easy 8-0 victory as the number two doubles team.

Treat and Stark stayed hot as they each won their match in two sets. Treat, who was the number two singles player, worked a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win, while Stark coasted to a 6-0, 6-2 win the third position.

Mateljan entered as the Tigers' top singles player and slipped in the first set 4-6, but rallied to win the match at 6-3, 10-3. Vaxter capped the wins for the Tigers at the sixth position in two sets, 6-2, 6-2.
