Mt. SAC Women’s Water Polo Falls to LBCC, 20-6

(Walnut, CA) With six goals in the first period, the Long Beach City College Vikings Women's Water Polo Team went on to a 20-6 South Coast Conference win over Mt. SAC Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 16) at the Marie T .Mills Aquatics Center.

"We're definitely in rebuild mold with only two sophomores this season," Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo Coach Chris Jackson said. "We're a younger team with lots of freshmen."

"We can't look past Cerritos. They are coming at us soon. (Wednesday) we able to rely on a couple different girls."

Jackson was referring to freshmen Emily Bermudez and Bella Robledo, who led the team with two goals each. Julia Bensing-Ruiz (2 Steals) and Amber Bustamante also added one goal each.

LBCC, which is ranked 4th in the state, was led by Rachel Westphal with a game-high seven goals.

The Mounties (7-6, 4-1) host Cerritos College Wednesday (Oct. 23), followed by the "Battle at the Beach Tournament October 23-24 at LBCC.
