Hawks Defeat Long Beach in Comeback Victory
The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team improved its overall record to 7-4 with a 6-3 win over Long Beach City College on Friday.
The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team improved its overall record to 7-4 with a 6-3 win over Long Beach City College on Friday. The victory extends the Hawks win streak to 6 games. After seeing themselves down 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning, the Hawks responded with a 3-run inning, capped off by an additional 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning.
The offensive charge was led by Sophomore Isabelle Valdez, who was 2-for-4 on the day with 3 RBI. Liliana Navarro, Samantha Villanueva, Cozette Zoch and Vanessa Zottneck all added two hits each on the day including RBI singles from Navarro, Villanueva, and Zottneck.
Mystique Rocha added another win in the circle for SCC while striking out 7 Long Beach hitters. The win improves her overall record to 7-2 on the season. Rocha is currently leading the state with 8 complete games pitched, is 2nd in the state for wins and is 5th in the state with 42 strikeouts.
