Softball's Rally Comes Up Short in Elimination Contest

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Butte softball team scored 11 runs in three of the final four innings, but its rally came up short in the elimination contest against San Jose, 14-12, on Friday afternoon.

Freshman Ashley Carbah tallied five RBI in her 3-for-5 performance, including keeping a two-out rally alive in the sixth inning. Carbah and freshman Alexis Detwiler each counted a triple each with freshman Dylan Gonzalez and Grace Stearns each earning a double.

On the day, freshman Savannah Wahl went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI and pair of runs, also making an appearance in the circle, tossing the final four complete and allowing only one earned run. Freshman Maggie Smith (15-1) was the pitcher of record, starting the contest in the circle and throwing 1.2 innings.

The Roadrunners completed the season with a 43-3 record, going undefeated in the Golden Valley Conference and earning the No. 2 seed in NorCal. The team posted the best regular season record in the state and boasted a 35-game winning streak.
