SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- El Camino College opened the 2022 regular season with a 3-1 road loss at San Diego Mesa on Friday night.
The Warriors (0-1) held the Olympians (1-0) to a .201 attacking percentage but could not get their own offense clicking after hitting at an .089 clip.
Sophomore Leafa Juarez posted a double-double with team highs in kills (10) and digs (17) while freshman Mya Johnson added 10 kills in her Warriors debut.
Jayden Zabala dished out 24 assists and Alex Perryman led the defense at the net with four blocks. Juarez and Athina Sarreas each added three blocks in the loss.
The Warriors will open their home schedule this week with matches against Moorpark (Wednesday, 6 p.m.), College of the Canyons (Friday, 11 a.m.) and Grossmont (Friday, approx. 4 p.m.).
