The West Valley baseball team jumped out to a 2-0 second inning lead, but was unable to stop a Mission rally in a 5-2 loss to the Saints Thursday at Valhalla. Ruben Trejo ripped a Dylan Remahl pitch up the middle to score Troy Gilmore and Kyle Ochoa and give the Vikings (17-17, 5-9 Coast-Golden Gate) an 2-0 lead that would hold up until the top of the fifth. The Saints (20-13, 9-5) struck for three runs in the fifth and added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Trejo finished 2-5 with two RBI, and Hunter Schilperoort and Zach Smits both went 2-4. Nick Johnson took the loss, giving up four hits and striking out four in 6 1/3 innings. West Valley continues its playoff push Saturday (4/14) at De Anza in the first of two key games against the Dons (17-16, 6-8) First pitch is 1:00pm.
