Marysville, Calif. - A quintet of Butte women's soccer players counted the first goals of the 2022 campaign as the Roadrunners blanked Yuba, 5-0, to open up the season.

Freshmen Emma Noe and Sadie Weber, and sophomores Lydia Binger, Alyssa Bloxham, and Allison Brott all tallied a score in the opener.

Noe struck first on a goal in the 20th minute off an assist from Bloxham before Binger added an insurance goal in the 35th minute off a feed from sophomore Sophia Maldonado. Bloxham scored shortly into the second half off an assist from Hannah Sillars in the 55th minute, while Brott earned her first goal of the season off an assist from Noe. Weber and sophomore Erica Rodriguez connected in the 80th minute to seal the final goal of the match.

Sophomore keeper Kathleen Howard tallied four saves in her complete-match performance.

The Roadrunners (1-0) stay on the road, heading to Sierra next on Tuesday, Aug. 30 for a 4 p.m. contest.
