TORRANCE, Calif. – Sophomore Jason Vasquez had his best game of the season so far but it was not enough as El Camino College fell to Santa Ana College 85-71 Friday night at the ECC North Gym.

Vasquez led the Warriors with 20 points in 22 minutes off the bench for ECC as he shot 7-for-13 from the field and hit three 3-pointers. Rashon Crutcher added 13 points, Darrian Williams-Youngblood scored 12 and Corey Madison added 10 in a losing effort.

For the Dons, Ramon Lopez led all scorers with 25 points and Jalani Horn added 17 points and 14 rebounds.

The Warriors never led on Friday night as they suffered their fifth straight loss to begin the season. Despite shooting at a better percentage overall than the Dons on Friday, the Warriors struggled from the outside as they hit just 5-of-22 from beyond the arc while the Dons went 11-for-26 from distance. The Warriors were also outrebounded 41-27 which led to a 12-4 advantage on second-chance points for Santa Ana. The Dons also scored 23 points off 16 Warriors turnovers.

The Warriors will now hit the road for their next four games beginning next week with the Porterville Tournament. They face hosts Porterville on Friday night followed by West Hills on Saturday.
