Warriors Win Rubber Game at Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - El Camino College completed a series win at Bakersfield College after winning the third game, 9-3 on Saturday afternoon at Gerry Collins Field.

The Warriors (5-3) led from the second inning on in Saturday's game over the Renegades (3-6).

Julian Aguiar was excellent on the bump and picked up his second win after throwing seven innings and allowing just two runs on four hits, for walks, and fanning nine batters. Julian Diaz made his first pitching appearance since the second game of the season and tossed two innings of work allowing just one run on one hit, one walk, and one hit batter.

The Warriors pounded out nine hits for the day.  Diego Alarcon led the offense after going 4-for-5 from the plate with one run and one RBI. Chris Villavicencio went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI and hit his first home run of the season.

The Warriors struck first for two runs in the second inning. Tyler Wright led the inning off with a walk.  Juan Carlos Camarena drew a one out walk to put two runners on base. Julian Diaz doubled in one run and Benny Casillas hit a sacrifice fly to RF to bring in another run to make it a 2-0 game.

The Warriors pounded out four runs in the fourth inning.  Chris Villavicencio led the inning off with a double. Julian Diaz walked and Benny Casillas reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases.  Diego Alarcon cleared the bases with a double to bring in three runs. Neil Feist singled in Alarcon in the next at-bat to make it a 6-0 game.

In the fifth inning, Chris Villavicencio deposited his first home run of the season to make it a 7-0 game. The Renegades got two runs back on a RBI triple to make it 7-2 after five innings.

The Warriors scored their final two runs of the game in the seventh inning.  With two outs in the inning the Warriors were able to work four straight walks.  Villavicencio, Juan Carlos Camarena, Julian Diaz, and Benny Casillas each walked to bring in one run.  Matthew Romero was hit by a pitch to bring in another run to make it 9-2.

Bakersfield got one run back in the eighth inning to finish the scoring.  The Renegades loaded the bases with no outs to start the inning. Julian Diaz gave up one run on a fielder's choice ground out but was able to escape the inning by inducing a 6-4-3 double play to end the threat from the Renegades.

The Warriors have three games scheduled for next week.  They are at Chaffey College on Wednesday, February 12th with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM.
