MiraCosta Volleyball Splits Two Marathon Matches

On Friday the MiraCosta women's volleyball team travelled to Mesa College to where four playoff level teams gathered for a quad.  In the first match the Spartans took on Irvine Valley College.  MiraCosta looked confident, winning the first two sets 25-22 and 25-23. Unfortunately they dropped the next three and lost to the Lasers in five.  Kailyn Jager led the Spartans with 20 kills and 17 digs.  She also assisted on four blocks. Makayla Hicks added eight kills and five blocks. Sophomore setter Summer Hoslett had 33 assists and 10 digs.

In the second game of the day the Spartans took on College of the Canyons, which also went to five. This time MiraCosta came out on top, finishing the Cougars by a final score of 15-5. Jager and Jackie Gracey led the Spartans with 22 and 13 kills respectively. Hoslett had 39 assists and 21 digs. Alexa Radovanovic-Duenas and Makayla Hicks combined for nine kills to support the offensive attack for the Spartans.

MiraCosta improves to 6-3 on the year with conference play beginning on Friday, September 16, when they host Southwestern at 6PM.
