Mounties Men's Soccer Cruises Past Cuyamaca to Remain Unbeaten

(Walnut, CA) Trailing Cuyamaca 1-0 through 19 minutes, Angel Santoyo put Mt. SAC (6-0) on the board, on an assist from Anthony Vargas, in the 21st minute to tie the score. It was all Mounties from then on as the hosts rolled to a 6-1 win over the Coyotes (2-1-2) on Friday night at the Mt. SAC Soccer Complex.

Paul Iniguez (Jesus Garcia assist), Gerardo Cazares (Guilherme Farias assist), Farias (Cazares assist), Travis Piceno (Edgar Contreras assist), and Gabriel Arredondo (Alan Piceno assist) accounted for the other Mountie goals.

Goalkeeper Alain Hernandez had three saves in 45 minutes for Mt. SAC, while teammate Victor Juarez made two saves in 45 minutes.

The Mounties will look to remain undefeated when they host the College of Southern Nevada (5-2) on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. The Coyotes compete in the Scenic West Athletic Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

CSN and Mt. SAC played to a 1-1 tie in 2018, and the Mounties were victorious, 4-1, in 2017.
