SOFTBALL: Owls Soar Over Eagles

Citrus College picked up its second win of the season with a 4-0 victory over LA Mission Thursday afternoon to begin conference action.

The Fighting Owls improve to 2-10 overall and open Western State Conference – South action at 1-0. The Eagles drop to 7-12 on the year and begin conference at 0-1.

Isabella Ramirez went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored for the Owls. Samantha Flores (1-for-3, one run), Alexis Cordero (1-for-3, one RBI), Hailee Reinert (1-for-4) and Cierra Carreon (1-for-3, one RBI) also had hits in the game.

Citrus struck first in the top of the second as Ramirez tripled and scored on an error by the Eagle second baseman, 1-0.

The Owls scored again in the second after Natalie Adams led the inning off with ball four. She stole second and Cordero traded places with her to up the Owls' lead to 2-0.

Ramirez got Citrus going again in the fourth, leading the inning off with a base hit. Flores joined her on base with a single of her own and the pair moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Carreon drove both of the Owls home with a single, securing the 4-0 victory.

The Owls look to build off the win, hosting Mt. San Antonio College on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
