Warriors Beat Compton On the Road

COMPTON, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors defeated the Compton Tartars 49-35 to begin the second round of South Coast Conference Division play on Friday evening.

It was a similar scoreline for the last time these two teams met nearly two weeks ago. The Warriors (10-13, 5-1) won their last outing against the Tartars (8-16, 0-6) 50-36.

The Warriors only shot 37.7% from the field but they held their opponents to a paltry 17.5% shooting. 

All the Warriors offense was generated by the starting lineup.  Three of the Warriors scored in double-figures. Taylor Hart led the team with 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting and 8 rebounds.  Alexia Mason scored 11 points and had 8 rebounds as well. Ashley Nguyen had 10 points.

Andranae Powns led the Tartars with 16 points and 9 boards. 

The Tartars scored the first basket of the game before Alexia Mason and Taylor Hart made layups to put the Warriors out in front.  The Warriors would go on to lead for the rest of the game.

El Camino led Compton 33-20 at the half.  They outscored the Tartars 16-to-15 in the second half enroute to a 49-35 win.

The Warriors will next face LA Harbor College on Wedneday, February 12th.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
