Mhango Leads Men's Soccer over Santa Monica, 2-1

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade Men's Soccer team hosted Santa Monica College at the BC Soccer Field on Friday afternoon and off two goals from freshman Mubelele Mhango came away with a big 2-1 victory.

The Renegades got on the board very quickly in the 14th minute after sophomore Edgar Gonzalez dribbled the ball down the field through the Corsair defense and found Mhango at the top of the box who launched a shot past the Santa Monica goalie and into the left side of the net. Mhango followed that up five minutes later when he was set up by a pass from sophomore Christian Gonzalez for a header into the far right net from the left side of the box.

Early in the second half Santa Monica narrowed the lead scoring a goal of their own to bring the score to 2-1. The Renegades would hold from there defensively and take the victory.

With the win, the Renegades move to 6-5-1 on the season. Up next, they will host Antelope Valley on Friday, October 18th at 2pm.
