The MiraCosta College women's soccer team traveled to cross-town rival Palomar College for the first of two rivalry games for the 2022 season. The Spartans came out victorious and did so in convincing fashion, scoring three goals for the 3-0 final.

Despite an even 0-0 score at halftime, MiraCosta dominated the second half, first scoring in the 50th minute when Roselyn Hernandez assisted Rufina Vera.  Vera scored the first goal of the game, but also scored the first goal of her career as a Spartan.  The second MiraCosta goal came in the 65th minute when sophomore Katy King scored, assisted by Jordan Fawcett. The final goal of the game was scored by another sophomore, Mandy Lara.  Lara was assisted by Mak Arnone.

The shutout was anchored by goalkeeper Tristyn Wright, and the always strong defensive line.  In September, four of the five Spartan wins have been shutouts.

With the win MiraCosta improves to 4-1 in conference play leading into an important match up with Mesa College.  The Spartans will host Mesa on Friday at 4PM.
