The Santa Monica College women's soccer team defeated the first place Citrus College owls 2-1 at Corsair Field. SMC took control of the match from the start and in the 36th minute of play Dayli Ramos slipped in behind the back line and earned a penalty kick. Anika
Williams stepped up to the spot and put the Corsairs up 1-0. In the second half Citrus put SMC under pressure and scored in the 52nd minute of play and tied the game 1-1. The Corsairs responded well and scored in the 56th minute as Cindy Castro finished a pass
from Narumi Kamiya to take a 2-1 lead. This win brings the Corsairs to 8-2-1 in conference play and 11-4-3 on the season. In the game SMC had 8 shots with 6 of them on goal to Citrus' 11 shots with 6 on goal. SMC Goalkeeper Taylor Brown had five saves in the
match.
