Ukiah, Calif. - The No. 13 Butte softball team swept Mendocino, 22-2 and 18-2, in five innings each on Friday afternoon.
In game one, the team racked up 18 hits, led by sophomore Alexis Detwiler's 3-for-3 performance with a double, home run, three RBI, four runs, and drawing two walks. Freshman Addison Boster added a 2-for-2 outing with three RBI, while sophomore Hayley Sites counted a double, and sophomore Grace Stearns belted a homer.
In the circle, sophomore Maggie Smith (2-2) tossed the complete game, scattering four hits and fanning eight.
In game two, freshman Avery Jolley (2-3) earned the complete-game win, allowing only four hits with seven strikeouts.
Detwiler led the team again with three home runs in her four total hits with eight RBI. Smith went 3-for-3 with a double, and freshman Moriah Hoshowski went 2-for-4 with a triple. Overall, the team racked up 23 hits with 11 being extra-base.
Butte (4-5) stays on the road, heading to Santa Rosa next on Saturday, Feb. 11 for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
