In an Orange Empire Conference matchup, the Hornets pulled off their fifth straight victory over visiting Saddleback College 70-38.
The win bumps FC to 11-6 overall and 3-0 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Saddleback defeat gives the team a 2-14 overall record and keeps them winless in the OEC at 0-3.
Fullerton jumped out with an early lead going on a 7-0 run at 8 minutes in the first quarter. The Gauchos got within two points at 8-6 on a couple of layups by Kaleyah Uy. From there, FC took off on a 12-3 run ending the first quarter at 20-9.
The Hornets pressed Saddleback throughout the game, and it especially paid off in the second quarter. FC held the Gauchos to just 3 points while forcing 7 turnovers. By the time both teams hit the locker rooms for the half, Fullerton enjoyed a 40-12 lead.
Fullerton controlled the entire second half pumping up their largest lead of 42 by 4:40 in the fourth quarter.
The full-court press did the trick in sealing the win as FC forced a total of 38 turnovers. They also held Saddleback to 20.8% shooting and 9.1% from beyond the arc.
Hannah Jones had her best game of the season leading all scorers with 21 points. She also added 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Center Janelle Ramos had a nice game with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Sydney Nekola scored 11 points. She was 3 for 3 from three-point land. Katie Salas chipped in with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists. Angela Zendejas dropped in 9 points, had 4 steals, along with 5 blocks.
