PC returns to court for first time since 2019, falls 3-1 at Cuesta

It's been nearly two years but the Porterville College women's volleyball team finally made its return to the court. But host Cuesta College spoiled the night for the Pirates as PC suffered a 3-1 loss on Wednesday in San Luis Obispo.

After dropping the opening set, Porterville evened it up taking Set 2 before the Cougars won out the final two. Cuesta took the match by scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-16, and 25-15.

Sophomore Madison Doty played well the Pirates, leading the Porterville offense with six kills to go along with four blocks (2 solo), two aces, and four digs.

In her PC debut, freshman Victoria Dabney contributed four kills, five digs, and two blocks while sophomore setter Jordan Castaneda had 15 assists.

Porterville (0-1) will look for its first win on Friday (Sep. 3) when they travel to Modesto Junior College for a pair of non-conference matches. The Pirates face host Modesto at 1 p.m. and close with a 3 p.m. match against Solano College.
