GLENDORA, Calif. – The SBCC women's volleyball team won its fifth match in a row on Wednesday night, holding Citrus to a -.030 hitting percentage en route to a four-set victory, 25-17, 25-7, 24-26, 25-12.

Now on their second five-match winning streak of the season, the Vaqueros improve to a stellar 10-2 mark. Citrus now owns a 4-6 record.

"Tonight was a wake up call for us that I think we needed," head coach Kat Niksto said. "Every team we play is going to give us their best effort, and credit to Citrus. They played hard the whole match and never stopped fighting. We played inconsistent and made too many unforced errors."

SBCC hit at a .250 clip as a team, led on offense by outside hitter Lily Krongold's season-high 11 kills (30.8%). Middle blocker Karoline Ruiz was right behind her with nine kills on a highly efficient .533 hitting percentage.

Libero Jacelin McKie was excellent on the defensive end yet again, reaching new heights with a season-high 28-dig performance. Ruiz and fellow middle blocker Lola Bunn set personal-bests with seven and six blocks, respectively.

The most lopsided set of the day came in game two, with one particularly dominant stretch seeing outside hitter Piper Ellbogn-Petersen serve 11 points in a row. Citrus would steal a tightly contested third set 26-24 before the Vaqueros returned to form in set four, cruising to a 25-12 win and ending the match.

SBCC has now won its last seven outings away from home.

The Vaqueros will be back at the Sports Pavilion this Friday for a 6:00 p.m. home matchup against Canyons in their final contest ahead of conference play.
