TORRANCE, Calif. - El Camino College won their South Coast Conference opening series with a 8-6 win over Mt. Sac at Warrior Field on Thursday afternoon.

The Warriors (8-5, 2-0) won the first game of the three-game set on Tuesday over the Mounties (9-4, 0-2) by a score of 5-2.   The Warriors will look to get the sweep against Mt. Sac on Friday.

Outside of one bad defensive inning for the home side, the Warriors mostly dominated the game against the Mounties.

The freshman Julian Aguiar continued to show his excellence on the mound as he picked up his third win.  Aguiar threw seven innings and allowed four runs (one earned) on five hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.  Joey Acosta tossed the last two innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits.

After banging the Mounties starter on Tuesday in the fifth inning, the Warriors got to the Mounties starting pitcher in the third inning for this game.  Michael Ortega lasted just 2.2 innings and allowed four runs on four hits, three walks, and four strikeouts.

The Warriors outhit the Mounties by only one, 9-to-8 for the game.  However, the Warriors grinded out nine free bases with eight walks and one hit by pitch. Jimmy Galicia was 3-for-4 at the dish with two runs and one RBI.  Chris Villavicencio was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The Warriors scored first after putting up one run in the first inning.  Benny Casillas led the inning off with a walk, Julian Diaz reached the bases on an error, and Jimmy Galicia was hit by a pitch.  Aaron Orozco singled through the left side to score one run but that was all the Warriors would muster for the first inning.

Mt. Sac took a 4-1 lead in the third inning after the Warriors defense struggled for the inning.  Michael Rosales led the inning off with the only base hit in the inning for the Mounties. The Mounties brought home four runs on a fielder's choice throwing error by Diaz, a fielding error by Feist, and a throwing error by Wright.

But the lead was short-lived as the Warriors brought home three runs in the bottom half of the inning.  Jimmy Galicia singled with one out and Aaron Orozco drew a walk. Neil Feist singled in Galicia from second to make it 4-2.  Matthew Romero drew a walk to load the bases. Chase Cosner cashed in two runs on base hit to right field that scored Feist and Orozco to make it 4-4.

The Warriors opened the game up in the fourth inning after adding three more runs to make it 7-4.  Benny Casillas led the inning off with a base hit through the left side and advanced to second base on a wild pitch.  Julian Diaz drew a walk and Jimmy Galicia doubled in Casillas to make it a 5-4 game. Aaron Orozco and Neil Feist drew back-to-back walks to bring in a run.  The Warriors added one more run on a wild pitch but that was it. The Warriors had three straight outs to end the frame.

The Warriors added an insurance run in the 6th inning after Chris Villavicencio smacked his second home of the year on a solo blast over the right center wall to make it 8-4.

The Mounties got two runs in the 9th inning to finish off the game at 8-6.

The Warriors will look to get their South Coast Conference opening series sweep on Friday at Mt. Sac.   First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.   The game has been moved from it's originally scheduled time on Saturday 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday because of impending rain.
