Women's Volleyball Drops Pair of Season-Opening Contests

Sacramento, Calif. - Despite taking an early 2-0 lead in the first match of the day, the Butte women's volleyball team dropped a pair of contests to Sacramento City, 3-2 (23-25, 24-26, 25-22, 26-24, 25-10), and Sierra, 3-1 (25-9, 18-25, 25-17, 25-18), in the season opening quad on Friday evening.

Against the Panthers, sophomore Emily Borgman paced the Roadrunner offense with 13 kills, adding 23 digs and a block. Freshman Kylie Walsh led the team defense in the backcourt with 29 digs, nearly posting a double-double with nine kills and adding an ace.

And against the Wolverines, Walsh led the Roadrunner offense with eight kills with a team-high 11 digs. Freshman Macy Hines, sophomore Elise Taylor, and Borgman paced the defense at the net with four, four, and three blocks, respectively. Taylor tallied a pair of solo blocks in her efforts.

Butte (0-2) returns to action at the Folsom Lake quad on Friday, Sept. 2. The team will take on Hartnell at 3 p.m. before facing the host team at 5 p.m.
