Mt. SAC Men’s Water Polo ends season with 9-7 loss to Cerritos in So Cal Regionals

(Long Beach, CA) With a chance to avenge a loss in the South Coast Conference semifinals, the Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo team fell just short again to the Falcons in the first round of the CCCAA Southern California Regionals.

The Mounties, who lost by a goal to the Falcons in the conference semis, let a fourth-quarter lead slip away and lost to Cerritos, 9-7, Thursday (November 10) at Long Beach City College.

Mt. SAC finishes the year with a .500 record at 15-15, scoring 359 goals (12.38/game) and had one of the states' top-scoring players in freshman Brandon Fabrega.

Fabrega finished tied for fourth in the state with 109 goals and first in shots by a wide margin with 243. Fabrega also finished third in the state with 92 steals, along with teammate Zack Ewing with 89.

Mt. SAC sophomore goalie Noah Stark was tops in the state in saves with 350 and third in save percentage (56.0).

In the game against Cerritos, Mountie sophomore center defender Aidan Murphy led with three goals, along with a pair of goals from Edward (EJ) Lynch and single goals by Trevor Ingersoll and Fabrega.

After trailing, 3-2 at the half, the Mounties, led by two goals by Murphy and Lynch, took a 6-5 lead heading into the final period.

Nevertheless, the Falcons outscored the Mounties, 4-1, for the win.
