SHASTA LOSES DOUBLEHEADER TO SAN JOSE

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team lost both games of a road doubleheader to San Jose City College on Friday, falling 8-0 in five innings and losing the nightcap 5-2.

The Knights managed two hits in the game, one from Brooke Blades and the other from Madeline Nightingale. Kyndall Holleman gave up eight earned runs on 10 hits in 4.2 innings.

Shasta tied it at 1 in the top of the fifth when Holleman reached on an error, allowing Autumn Giannini to score. But the Knights surrendered three runs in the bottom half of the frame to allow the Jaguars to pull away. Holleman was 3 for 4 in the game, Sophia Valdez hit a solo home run in the seventh inning and Giannini and McKenzie Carnes each had a hit. Blades took the loss, giving up five runs on nine hits in six innings.

The Knights have lost six straight games and play four games this week at Sierra College and host American River and Cabrillo College at home on Sunday.
