Qualifying for the Southern California Regional Playoffs for the seventh time in the last nine seasons, the Cerritos College women's basketball team saw their season come to an end on Wednesday after a 63-51 loss at the hands of Ventura College. The Falcons, who were seeded #21 for the playoffs, finished the season with a 14-15 record, while the #12-seeded Pirates advanced to the second round.

Freshman guard Bridgette McIntyre (St. Anthony HS) kept Cerritos close in the first half, and after she netted a three-pointer, the game was tied, 22-22 with 5:04 left in the second quarter. Ventura would go on to score the next nine points in the game, but the Falcons were able to draw to within 33-27 by intermission.

Once the lead for the Pirates was over 10 points, the Falcons fought to get it to single-digits. They were able to make it a 47-39 game after McIntyre connected on another three-pointer with 1:25 remaining in the third quarter. Trailing by 13 points after the third quarter, Ventura was able to hold off one last Cerritos run.

Consecutive baskets by sophomore Brianna Flores (Norwalk HS) and freshman Damarie Saldivar (Paramount HS) were followed by two McIntyre free throws to make it a 57-49 game with 4:28 left in the game. Coming out of a timeout, the Falcons converted a missed Ventura shot into a Saldivar layup and it was a 57-51 game. That would be the last points for Cerritos, as their season came to an end.

McIntyre came off the bench to lead the team with 15 points and added five rebounds, while Saldivar posted 14 points and five rebounds. Freshman Melana Goodloe (Warren HS) stepped into a starting role and led the team with seven rebounds, while she was joined by sophomore Cynthia Almanzar (John Glenn HS) with five points each.
