HENDERSON/SMITHLEY AND FAULK/BULSOMBUT ADVANCE IN WESTERN STATE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS DOUBLES AND QUALIFY FOR SOCAL REGIONALS
After closing out the regular season with a 6-3 win over Mt. San Antonio College, AVC women's tennis has moved on to compete in the Western State Conference Championships at Ventura College.
After closing out the regular season with a 6-3 win over Mt. San Antonio College, AVC women's tennis has moved on to compete in the Western State Conference Championships at Ventura College. Kristi Henderson and Naia Smithly advanced to the quarterfinals by beating Aleah Cisneros and Tara Bashirtash from Bakersfield College 8-1.
AVC's 12th seeded Brook Faulk and Sabrina Bulsombut also advanced to the quarterfinals. They defeated Leslie Galaviz and Alexis Mirzayam from College of the Canyon 8-0. Next, they pulled off the upset against College of the Canyons fifth-seeded Krista Staat and Stephanie Mercado 8-4. Play is set to resume with the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Both doubles teams have qualified for SoCal Regionals, which take place 4/29 - 4/30 at Cypress College.
