Lorenzo McGill scored three touchdowns in the first half, and the Cabrillo College football team won its season opener convincingly, 31-7 over Contra Costa at Carl Conelly Stadium on Saturday.

McGill opened scoring after hauling in a 27-yard scoring pass from redshirt sophomore quarterback Devon Daich, a Monte Vista Christian School alumnus who played two seasons ago for rival Hartnell.

McGill's second touchdown came on a 43-yard punt return and boosted the Seahawks' lead to 21-0 in the second quarter.

His third score came on a 28-yard pass from Ryan Kraft, a freshman quarterback out of Bret Harte in Angels Camp.

The Seahawks led 28-0 at the half. They also received a 7-yard scoring reception from Teyjohn Herrington, a bounce-back player from Nevada. Daich threw the pass.

Daich finished 16 of 28 for 227 yards with two touchdowns and one interception and Kraft was 5 of 8 for 89 yards with one TD and two interceptions.

Running back Evan Delozier, a Watsonville alumnus, led the Seahawks in rushing. He had 11 carries for 64 yards.
