Jayden Metz hurled six three-hit innings and Yeager George and Jake Holton combined to pitch three innings of hitless relief as Santa Barbara City College held on for a 2-1 win over Oxnard.

The Vaqueors (13-9, 4-1 WSC North) scored both of their runs in the top of the third in a rally that started with two outs and nobody on.  Reinhard Lautz and John Jensen each signled and both came in to score unearned runs on an error by Oxnard catcher Angel Mauricio.

The two runs would be all the Vaqueros pitching staff would need, as Metz, George and Holton combined to allow just three hits and one earned run in nine innings of work.  Metz (2-1) picked up the win while Holton nailed down his seventh save of the season.

Oxnard (7-15, 1-4 WSC North) scored their only run in the sixth when Brett Workman singled, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out.

SBCC managed just four hits, with Lautz recording two of them.  Patrick Caulfield stole three bases on the day.

The Vaqueros are back on the field Monday when they take on Cuesta for a 2:30 p.m. start.
