Owls Put Up Fight Against Cubs

Citrus College kept things close with LA City College until the Owls had to play a man down due to a red card late in the game. The Cubs scored two of their five goals after the second yellow walking away with a 5-2 victory Tuesday.

The Owls drop to 1-4-0 on the year while LA City improves to 1-2-3 with its first win of the season.

It was fairly close in the first half, with the Cubs just edging the Owls 6-to-4 on shots.

The Owls took the first lead after an own goal put the home team on the board in just the second minute of action.

It didn't last long, however, as LA City evened things up just 22 seconds later. The Cubs capitalized again in the 12th minute to take over the lead.

Just before halftime, the Cubs committed a foul in the box to give the Owls a penalty kick. Dustin Ramos stepped up to the spot and converted the penalty kick to tie things up at 2-2.

LA City took control of the second half and tacked on three goals to walk away with the victory.

The Owls play again on Friday, hosting Imperial Valley for a 2:00 p.m. kick off.
